empowered with an international perspective and a passion to excel
We want your child to be able to solve real-world problems by applying a more comprehensive and creative way of thinking. To achieve this, our students learn to explore subjects in a more integrated fashion, developing a robust understanding of each subject and the relationship between each subject. Our STEAM programme adopts this approach to Innovation, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. As a result, students at GEMS gain a deeper, more complete understanding. And, better still, it gives them the inventive flair needed to become tomorrow’s innovators and entrepreneurs.
At GEMS World Academy (Singapore) we provide a learning environment that makes students feel comfortable and confident. We create opportunities that allow them to apply their skills and knowledge to solve problems in contexts that are relevant to them.
Our experienced GEMS Educators look for ways to implement project-based learning that can increase student interest in science, technology, engineering, art and maths by involving students in solving authentic problems, working with others, and building real solutions. It is through our integrated STEAM approach that this type of learning can occur.
At GEMS (Singapore) our teachers build upon the learning taking place in the classroom. STEAM is about giving students opportunities to apply the skills and knowledge they have learned in different contexts, enhanced with a STEAM focus. Students access knowledge and skills from two or more disciplines to complete a task. They are given open-ended assignments that can be solved using cross-curricular skills they have been learning in regular classes. Our students make connections between subjects’ using this interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning approach, grasping and appreciating why they are learning.
This interdisciplinary approach to education allows GEMS students to hone their analytical thinking skills, while simultaneously providing them with the resources needed to develop creative reasoning. Not only will they learn the “traditional” skills they will need to thrive in their careers, but they will also enjoy learning and finding creative solutions for pressing real-world problems.
