Get the most of your child’s learning experience

GEMS (Singapore) is a family-oriented school. We are very fortunate to have students from all over the world. Our student population comprises more than 60 nationalities with no one dominant culture or background. Our Education leadership team, teachers and staff know every child and family.

Understanding every child

GEMS (Singapore) is a culturally rich school in which children have come from many different parts of the world and many of those children have had extremely diverse educational experiences in other countries. As a school, it is important that we know each student in terms of their social, emotional and academic development. It is also important to know their strengths and areas for improvement so that their education can be tailored for greater levels of personalised learning. We use a range of assessment methods (CAT4, PASS, PIVOT, MAP, WIDA) to pinpoint students’ strengths and areas for improvement so that their education can be tailored for greater levels of personalised learning.

Encouraging student involvement and nurturing the love of learning

We believe that a low student-teacher ratio can make a substantial impact on your child’s education. Providing an engaging, developmentally appropriate and safe learning environment that supports each child’s natural curiosity is integral to everything we do at GEMS (Singapore).

We recognise and value that your child’s emotional and social well-being is shaped from a very early age. We also know that your child is most likely to become a confident learner in an environment in which they feel secure to express themselves without fear of judgement.

This is why we’ve created a safe space in all our classes by limiting class sizes to just 14 children in the Nursery, 16 children in the Early Years, and 24 children in the Primary and Secondary Years.

This kind of learning environment helps to encourage engagement in class, allows students to learn more and at a faster pace, builds strong teacher-student relationships and leads to higher performance.

Nurturing students’ climb to success

Small class sizes and an inspiring and highly qualified teaching faculty ensure that students get the absolute most out of their learning experience. All classes from Nursery through to Grade 5 are facilitated by the full-time teacher and a fully qualified teaching partner in order to get to know every child, tailor activities to their individual needs, bring out the best in them and encourage greater participation in class. With 1 teacher for every 8 students in Nursery, Kindergarten and Primary Years, our learners are given more attention and provided with personalised learning opportunities.

of working experience

An individualised approach that enables every child to be their best

We recognise that every child is different

The teacher and the teaching partner have more time to observe, assess the class as a whole and the students as individuals and as a result cater to the various learning styles

A sense of safety and security

With smaller class sizes students feel more confident to put their hand up, ask questions and share their own ideas, even if they do not understand something

Not knowing is OK

Children feel comfortable asking for further assistance whereas, in a larger classroom setting, they have the disadvantage of potentially falling behind or hiding behind those who are more vocal and confident

Nurturing learning environment

Small class sizes and low student:teacher ratio boost class participation, encourages students to have higher educational goals and benefit in their endeavours beyond school.

Better social opportunities

Your child gets a better opportunity to know their classmates which helps foster meaningful and lasting friendships
