Hi, I'm Ms Razya and I am the lead teacher for the Little GEMS Ruby class. I hope you are as excited as I am about the new class. I look forward to getting to know you, but first, here’s a little bit about myself.
I graduated with a Diploma in Children's Services in Melbourne, Australia and am currently continuing my degree in Early Childhood. I have been working in the early childhood field for 13 years. I taught in Melbourne for three years as a Group Leader for Nursery and Toddler classes before moving back to Singapore.
Over the last 10 years, I have worked in the Australian International School and GEMS World Academy (Singapore). I have been with GEMS (Singapore) since the very beginning.
I have also had prior experience teaching in local schools in Singapore. My background in early childhood involved planning the curriculum such that the child’s voice was central to setting up learning environments and where play was crucial to learning. I believe that play is essential in aiding the development of language, motor, creativity, problem solving and social skills; hence it will be a huge part of your child’s day!
I am happily married to a truly wonderful man, Umar. We have 3 children; Zahid, who is seven, Ma’isha who is 21 months old, and a 10 month old baby boy, Zafar. They are my pride and joy and even if they do keep me up at night, I am truly passionate about children! In my free time, I am an avid midnight baker and my other passions are reading and traveling.
Working hand in hand with Ms Dian and our wonderful parents, I am confident we will build a fantastic class together. I am sure we'll have an amazing year ahead and I cannot wait to have lots of fun watching your child grow in leaps and bounds and nurturing them to their fullest potential!
