Edna Lau is a PYP Coordinator and Grade 5 teacher. She joined GEMS World Academy (Singapore) in 2017.
Edna is originally from Canada and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of British Columbia, as well as a Bachelor and Master of Education Studies (Hons) from the University of Southern Queensland.
Edna has been an international educator for the last twenty years. Her roles include being a homeroom teacher, EAL Specialist, Curriculum Coordinator and Educational Consultant across Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Singapore. Edna is also an International Schools Theatre Association (ISTA) Artist and part of the International Baccalaureate Educator Network. She is a trained IB PYP Workshop Leader and School Visiting Team Member. All of these roles have given her the wonderful opportunity to work with children and adults in different contexts around the world, especially with her interest in STEAM and transdisciplinary learning.
Edna and her husband, Benet, have two children. Their older son, Taite, will be graduating from university this year and their younger son, Josh, will be graduating from high school. Edna enjoys dance, theatre and music, as well as hikes, beautiful scenery and traveling wherever she can to learn more about other people and their cultures.
