GEMS World Academy (Singapore) empowers graduates to be successful in postsecondary education, career and life through a wealth of knowledge and career-readiness skills. The programme1 is designed for students from 16 to 19 years old who wish to combine academic study with career-related learning in the field of art and design in the last two years of secondary school. Students engage with a rigorous study programme that genuinely interests them while gaining transferable and lifelong skills in applied knowledge, critical thinking, communication, and cross-cultural engagement. They are well prepared to succeed at institutions of higher learning. All elements of the programme provides students with a wealth of skills necessary to succeed in a rapidly changing world and pursue your dream career.
A career-related study supports the programme’s academic strength and provides practical, real-world approaches to learning. Students are provided with an opportunity to specialise in Grade 11, spending up to 70% of their time working in their field of choice. By blurring the lines between the school and universities, we provide our students an exciting opportunity to combine academic study with career-related practice, helping to broaden their horizons and excel building on their passions.

SCAD, the University for creative careers, offers more degree programs and specializations than any other art and design university and now at GEMS World Academy in Singapore these are available to students in Grades 11 & 12. SCAD is uniquely qualified to prepare talented students for professional, creative careers. In partnership with GEMS World Academy in Singapore the programme offers a unique opportunity to complete your High School Diploma while taking up to twenty university credits in a wide range of Art and Design options, leading to the full range of SCAD degree options.
Students will benefit from University level tuition from the very best Art and Design Lecturers who will provide support and guidance in collating a truly outstanding Portfolio. This High School qualification will provide access to Degrees and Foundation Programmes not only at SCAD but at universities worldwide.
GEMS/SCAD IBCP students can earn up to 35 credit hours at SCAD and benefit from award-winning academic programs, advanced resources and individual attention from SCAD’s acclaimed faculty. Courses are offered at SCAD locations in the U.S. and internationally, and online through SCAD eLearning. Qualified high school students admitted to SCAD for joint enrollment through the GEMS IBCP may be eligible to receive up to a half-tuition scholarship.
With the GEMS/SCAD IBCP, students will be able to spend 50% or more of their time at school working on their art and/or design projects. This means that by the time they come to apply for university, they will have a portfolio that far exceeds that of the majority of other high school students.
The IB Career-related Programme combines the highly regarded and academically challenging courses from the IB Diploma Programme (DP) with practical, real-world approaches to learning. All of the elements of the CP help students develop the communication, personal, and academic skills necessary to succeed in a rapidly changing world. Critically the course combines academic subjects with professional interests, specifically developed for students who want greater career-related learning. The programme leads to further/higher education, apprenticeships or employment.
