Teaching and learning in the Early & Primary Years classrooms has continued as planned amidst the regular updates and changes due to the coronavirus outbreak. While it has been reassuring to witness Singapore’s response to this global crisis, it has been equally pleasing to see how positively all stakeholders within the GEMS community have responded.
There is no doubt concern about how long our lives will continue to be affected by this crisis. However, spending time in the Early & Primary Years classrooms, and observing the students learning, demonstrates to me that our community is focused on academic progress as well as our social responsibility at this time.
We are looking forward to our divisional student-led conferences (SLC’s) at the end of this month. If you have not yet signed up for the conferences, please do so through the link provided via email by Friday the 20th of March. The SLC’s are a highlight within our academic calendar and provide parents with an engaging insight into their child’s learning journey. Be prepared to take part in your child’s learning experiences at the SLC’s in addition to seeing them demonstrate the skills they have learnt while at school.
It has been pleasing to see internal ECA’s resume again this month following the moratorium placed on after school activities in February. The ECA program at GEMS Singapore plays an integral part in our holistic approach to education and therefore we are happy to provide opportunities for students to participate again. However, all inter-school fixtures and events continue to be placed on hold at this time.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact any member of our schools' leadership team should you have any questions. We are committed to partnering with parents in their child’s education and look forward to celebrating each individual student’s success.
