Teaching Partner

GEMS World Academy (Singapore) is seeking a Teaching Partner for the Academic year 2019-2020 commencing in August 2019.

Interested candidates must meet the following requirements:

Qualifications:

  • College degree with teaching emphasis or completion of an accredited Teacher preparation program
  • Teacher professional certification specific to hired/placed position
  • Minimum of two full contract teaching years’ experience at the appointed hire grade level (Pre-K - Grade 5)

An ideal candidate will:

  • Preference will be given to teachers who have IB experience, as well as a clear track record of superior teaching in international school settings.

Early/Primary Years Teachers

GEMS World Academy (Singapore) is seeking dynamic, experienced and flexible Early/Primary Years teachers to join our team for the Academic Year 2019-2020. The Academic Year 2019-2020 will commence in August 2019.

Secondary Years Learning Support Teacher (SEN)

GEMS World Academy (Singapore) is looking for a dynamic, experienced and flexible Learning Support (SEN) teacher (Grades 6-12).

This is a full-time maternity cover position from now to 27 March 2020 (possibly longer). 

Experience in supporting learners with diverse learning needs (in pull-out and push-in settings) and familiarity with diagnostic tests (such as WIAT- III, NARA, CMAT, Citoni 2, Sensory Profile, Dyslexia Screener, Detailed Assessment of Speed of Handwriting (DASH) is a must. Preference will be given to teachers who have IB MYP experience.

Start date: immediately
End date: 27 March 2020 (may change)

Supply/Cover Teacher 

GEMS World Academy (Singapore) is seeking supply/cover teachers to help during staff absences throughout the academic year.

Current specialization required: MYP Science/DP Biology and DP Environmental Systems and Societies

Start date: ongoing from 2 September 2019

Application close date: until filled

Interviews: ongoing; at GEMS Singapore campus

General Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree from a recognized university or college (required)
  • Teacher professional certification (required)
  • Able to cover at short notice (required)
  • Willing to cover within grade range of 6-12 (11 years old to 18 years old)
  • Willing to cover a range of subjects (following provided lesson plans) (preferred)

Senior School Nurse

Qualifications:

  • Recognized and approved BSc Nursing or 3 year General Nursing Certificate, preferably with a Ministry of Health license.
  • Current, up-to-date knowledge of worldwide medical and healthcare practices

Experience:

  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience in a similar position

Skills:

  • Fluent English language capacity
  • Good personal etiquette and positive customer service attitude
  • The ability to remain calm in cases of emergency and cope with a degree of pressure at peak times.
  • A logical and relaxed individual able to interact with a variety of people from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Computer competency
  • Polite and pleasant demeanour
  • Able to multi-task and handle competing priorities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that students and parents adhere to, and are well informed of immunization programs as per Ministry of Health guidelines
  • Monitor the maintenance of cleanliness and hygiene within the school, particularly in areas such as the cafeteria, washrooms and swimming pools
  • Be available to students and staff to address their immediate medical needs, providing a source of medical advice
  • Maintain comprehensive medical records of all students as regulated by the Ministry of Health
  • Establish procedures for providing first aid in cases of accidents or illness on the school campus or during school functions
  • Refer to accidents or illness appropriately to the school doctor or hospitals, and inform parents and the school Principal
  • Be present for all student-related activities on campus
  • Keep up to date with current medical practices and regulations, as prescribed by Governmental authorities
  • Provides first aid attention in case of accidents or illnesses on the school campus during all school functions
  • Refers to accidents or illnesses as appropriate to the school doctor or hospital emergency; informs parents and the school division Principal and classroom teacher
  • Provide first aid during the ECA sports activities
  • Orders and maintains health office supplies and equipment
  • Manages budget; statistical and financial records
  • Completes essential skill training and specialist development as required to maintain first-class Student Health Office Operations.
