Teaching Partner

GEMS World Academy (Singapore) is seeking a Teaching Partner for the Academic year 2019-2020 commencing in August 2019.

Interested candidates must meet the following requirements:

Qualifications:

  • College degree with teaching emphasis or completion of an accredited Teacher preparation program
  • Teacher professional certification specific to hired/placed position
  • Minimum of two full contract teaching years’ experience at the appointed hire grade level (Pre-K - Grade 5)

An ideal candidate will:

  • Preference will be given to teachers who have IB experience, as well as a clear track record of superior teaching in international school settings.

English as an Additional Language (EAL) Teacher

GEMS World Academy (Singapore) is seeking a dynamic, experienced and flexible Primary Years EAL Teacher to join our team for the Academic Year 2019-2020, to support the growing population of students from non-English backgrounds. The Academic Year 2019-2020 will commence in August 2019.

This is an exciting opportunity due to increased enrolment. Preference will be given to teachers who have ‘push-in model’ EAL experience in an international school setting and are looking for an opportunity to help implement a coherent EAL program at a highly aspirational school.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree from a recognized university or college with teaching emphasis or completion of an accredited Teacher preparation programme

Relief Classroom Teacher 

GEMS World Academy (Singapore) is seeking Early/Primary Years Relief teachers for the Academic year 2018/19. Interested candidates must meet the following requirements:

Supply/Cover Teacher Vacancies 

GEMS World Academy (Singapore) is seeking supply/cover teachers to help during staff absences throughout the academic year. Preference will be given to applicants with teaching qualifications in IB MYP and DP, however, this is not a requirement.

Start date: ongoing from 14 August 2018
Application close date: until filled

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree from a recognised university or college (required)
  • Teacher certification (required)
  • Able to cover at short notice (required)
  • Willing to cover within grade range of 6-12 (11 years old to 18 years old)
  • Willing to cover a range of subjects (following provided lesson plans) (preferred)

Head of Operations

Qualifications:

  • Minimum a BA, preferably an MBA or equivalent (advanced) Diploma/Certificate of School Business Management
  • Fluent English communication skills
  • Attention to detail with diligent follow up, and able to execute in a timely manner
  • Skilled in multi-tasking and handling pressure
  • Capable of influencing people and talented in networking with cultural sensitivity
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a senior level position within a service-oriented industry

The Head of Operations is responsible for planning, coordinating and personally delivering on the successful day-to-day operational management of the school. The role includes serving as administrative operational support to the CEO, Head of School & School Leadership Team. Ensuring that outstanding learning opportunities are provided at GEMS (Singapore) for all stakeholders.

Success may be achieved in part through providing efficient, effective and proactive administration of school operations, which includes facilities management, health services, Govt. approvals and coordination of external vendor contracts.

Key functions:

  • Policies and procedures- Manages school operations effectively, in-line with the approved budgets, to achieve or exceed performance targets.
  • Administrative support- Leads and executes superior client-focused management of the school operations, by continuously using quality assurance tools, service guidelines, and benchmarks in order to drive incremental change.
  • Facility Management & Compliance- Management of the facilities as per GEMS standards and weekly inspections to ensure proper maintenance and upkeep. Coordinate all approvals from required government agencies for all facility and operationally required compliance areas of the school
  • Health and Safety- Responsible for the implantation of Health and safety legislation, complying with school requirements, GEMS Corporate’s expectations and within the parameters of the Singapore government legislation
  • Project Management- Works with CEO, HOS and GEMS Corporate to assist with the ongoing expansion and development of the campus
