Presently, Grade 5 students are busy getting ready for their PYP Exhibition. The Grade 5 corridor is a hive of learning, research and action.
The PYP Exhibition is the culminating experience for all PYP students at the end of their experience in the Primary Years Programme (PYP).
This requires that each student demonstrates engagement with the five essential elements of the programme: knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes and action.
It is a transdisciplinary inquiry conducted in the spirit of personal and shared responsibility, as well as a summative assessment that is a celebration as students move from the PYP into the middle years of schooling.
On Wednesday 9th May, Grade 5 will launch the Exhibition at an evening event with their parents.
On Thursday 10th May, the Exhibition is open for all of our school community to visit.
The theme for this year is ‘Action’. Throughout this whole process, the students have been taking action on issues that are important to them. These issues have been linked with the UN Global Sustainability Goals.
Through exploring how ‘actions create change that can affect people, the environment and the world’, they explored many different issues that affect us locally, nationally and globally. They consolidated skills, achieved greater knowledge and developed understandings about their issue, about each other and most importantly about themselves.
The skills that they have developed over this time will be crucial for their transition into Middle school.
