GEMS World Academy (Singapore) aims to provide an exceptional school environment where learning can take place in a safe and secure atmosphere. GEMS World Academy (Singapore) uses a close-loop feedback and complaint management system to gather and address all feedback and /or complaints received from stakeholders (Students, parents and external parties). In this definition , external parties refers to parents, the public and suppliers. There are many forms of feedback in the the school environment and we embrace the open door policy that has always been typical at GEMS World Academy (Singapore).

The Dispute resolution and grievance process shall be activated if the complaints could not be resolved and the dispute resolution shall align with the provision in the Private Education Act.

If internal efforts to resolve the dispute fail, the matter shall be forwarded to an external mediator and the aggrieved parent may approach the CPE’s Student Services Centre (SSC) for assistance.

The parent is required to fill out an application form at the SCC, stating the nature of the dispute. The SSC will review the complaints and may refer the matter to the CPE Mediation-Arbitration Scheme.

The CPE Mediation-Arbitration Scheme which is available on the CPE website, is jointly drawn up with the Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC) and the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (SIArb).

GEMS World Academy (Singapore) will respond/acknowledge all feedback and complaints within two (2) working days and will aim to resolve the issue within twenty one (21) working days.

Feedback:

GEMS World Academy (Singapore) welcomes feedback from parents and students for continuous improvement and quality assurance. When questions, issues or concerns arise throughout the year, parents are strongly encouraged to first speak with the appropriate teacher. GEMS World Academy (Singapore) believes that the vast majority of questions and misunderstandings are solved by asking questions and seeking clarification. We all come from different backgrounds and the image of what ‘school’ is all about will vary widely from person to person.

Procedure to Lodge Feedback/Complaints:

  • Go to the source by contacting our staff in person (arranging a time to talk in advance) or by phone or email
  • If the complaint remains unresolved after meeting with the staff member, only then should the conversation be elevated. Contact the appropriate Division Secretary to schedule an appointment with either the Deputy Principal or School Principal
  • If the complaint remains unresolved the Parent/Student is referred to CPE Student Services Centre (SCC)

A complaint is an expression of significant dissatisfaction by a parent who has legitimate interest in the school, about the conduct, actions or omissions relating to areas of educational operations.

The School Principal is the responsible party for accepting, documenting and evaluating all parent complaints received at GEMS World Academy (Singapore) by a variety of means.
