Welcome to GEMS World Academy (Singapore)
Preparing this generation of students with the academic skill-set to tackle tomorrow’s careers
Dear <firstname>,

Ready, set, go for a summer holiday? This will be a final newsletter until August when we move into the new campus buildings in Yishun – so, on behalf of the entire GWA Faculty and Staff, we hope you enjoy the short time away from Singapore making more wonderful family memories.

June 3, we hosted our annual Founding Families and Faculty summer send-off at Spruce, in Phoenix Park. Lend Lease construction project manager Tim O’Neill presented a slide show and update on the new school readiness. We are right on schedule for the new student-parent orientation September 1 and 2. First day of school is Wednesday, September 3. Thanks to the more than 175 student, parents, faculty and staff attending, the food, drink, balloons, magician, face-painting created a carnival picnic like atmosphere for the evening event. A special highlight was our first GWA students modelling the school uniform.

A special thanks to those who could attend and meet and greet each other as well as the education leadership team and current Singapore teachers who have made choice to transfer to our school. Our GWA Family is valued – and we thank you all for choosing to be part of it!

Finally, enrolment has certainly picked up this past month and has resulted in the need for additional teachers at specific grade levels. Please inform family friends with school age children that the admission/registration fees waived against tuition will continue through the end of August --- and any other fees deposited to another school reimbursed as a tuition deduction. Enrolment is on-going and open throughout the school year, until classes are at capacity.

Educationally yours,
Dan E. Young
Founding Head of School/CEO

GEMS Education:
Antarctic Adventure
Students at GEMS schools are provided with amazing opportunities!

A team of 9 students from GEMS Modern Academy in Dubai became the first school team to join Sir Robert Swan as a part of the International Antarctic Expedition (IAE) 2014.

Twice the size of Australia, Antarctica is 5.4 million square miles of ice, and contains 90% of the world’s ice and 70% of the world’s fresh water. Antarctica is one of the only places on earth untouched by Human residents. The expedition gave students a better understanding of the environmental concerns that are facing the world and specifically Antarctica. The group from Modern that braved sub-zero temperatures and camped out on the Arctic ice, and are now Youth Ambassadors who will continue to do their part to save the continent.
