Parent Teacher Community Committee Update 2 February 2018

The second semester is now in full swing and we have a lot to look forward to. Here is our update, enjoy!

ARTS WEEK UPDATE

We would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents, teachers, senior students and extended GEMS World Academy (Singapore) community who gave up their time to display their work and run workshops. The event would not have been such a success without your generosity, enthusiasm and support.

The Art and Design team leaders would appreciate any feedback you may have from the ARTS WEEK. Please click HERE to submit your feedback.

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY

Please join Mrs Rae Lei for the next Lee Ah Mooi Old Age home visit on Friday, 23 February from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.

We are planning to prepare the snacks, feed the elderly, exercise with them and have a chat with them. If you are interested to join, please email Mrs Lei at r.lei@gwa.edu.sg.

COMMUNITY SERVICE IN ACTION

A HUGE THANK YOU to Grade 5 students for collecting and taking lots of sports shoes to Loola Camp this week. They were super excited to help the local community and we look forward to hearing more when they return from camp. We collected over a 100 pairs of shoes. Well done!

WELCOME A NEW PTC COMMUNICATIONS MEMBER

Malgosia Broda has decided to take on a new adventure and unfortunately has decided to leave the PTC Exco Team. We are very grateful for her continuous support, hard work and dedication to the PTC and we would like to take the opportunity to wish her all the very best for the future.

We would like to welcome Claire Venter who will be taking on the Communications Position.

Claire is a South African who grew up in the countryside and has a love for the Bushveld. Before living in Singapore she lived in Kuala Lumpur. Claire has always been involved in her children’s school and helped with numerous activities. She relocated to Singapore in July 2017 with her husband, two daughters, two crazy guinea pigs and a rescue dog.

Claire welcome to the PTC Team!

VOLUNTEERS FOR THE PTC

There are times during the year when we need to call on you for help for our various events.

We would really appreciate if you can sign up HERE to become a volunteer for the PTC so we can reach out on an as-needed basis during the year. You are not committing to any specific event and you can help out if you have availability.

Thank you for supporting the events that we organize throughout the school year!

On a separate note, should you have any comments or ideas related to specific activities or events (such as UN, bus service, school safety, uniform, canteen or ELP), please feel free to send us an email to the GEMS (Singapore) PTC subcommittees representatives ptc@gwa.edu.sg or click this link to send us your feedback  PTC Feedback Form.

Just a reminder that we have the following FaceBook pages available if you are on FB. Please join us on GEMS PTC Singapore Facebook Group  – a useful forum not just for PTC and school updates, but also a place where you can share photos taken during sporting or school-related events – so our whole community can enjoy them! It’s a closed group so you can be assured of its privacy.

We also have GEMS PTC Classified Facebook – the site for our community to buy and sell in a safe and friendly environment.

Kind Regards,

On behalf of: The GEMS Parent Teacher Community
