This year the whole of our PY school have come together to perform a fabulous version of “The Nutcracker”.
A well-known story written in 1816 by German author E. T. A. Hoffmann, in which young Marie Stahlbaum’s favorite Christmas toy, the Nutcracker, comes alive, and after defeating the evil Mouse King in battle, whisks her away to a magical kingdom populated by dolls.
Packed with student choreographed dances, solo and group performances and a host of multicultural narrators our talented students take you through this magical story.
Our stage is set with a giant Nutcracker created by the PY Art teachers and we are welcomed by several young violinists and pianists, followed by Grade 4 singing.
We are then instantly caught up with Grade 2’s in their lively March, followed by KG 2 and the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. This is complimented beautifully by Grade 1 with their Dance of the Reed Flutes.
Next, we have the excitement of the Grade 5 Arabian Dancers and the Waltz of the Flowers by Grade 4. Grade 5 then captivate us with their Chinese Dance, some Grade 3 sing from the upper balcony whilst others perform their Russian Dance on stage.
The story comes to a close with our final group of dancers and a happy ending to the story.
We are so proud of all the students and staff involved in the performance, it has certainly been a collaborative task and very much student driven.
Our dress rehearsal went well this week and we invite ALL of you to come and watch the official performance at 9 am – 10 am Thursday 7th December.
For those of you not able to come there will be a live feed shared ahead of time.
