About Stuart O’Grady
Stuart O’Grady OAM is a retired Australian professional cyclist, who competed between 1995 and 2013. Considered one of Australia’s most accomplished sportsman O’Grady boasts a professional career that include 17 Tour de France starts, 6 Olympics, Gold, Silver, Bronze medals and the 2007 edition of Paris-Roubaix.
O’Grady earned a reputation as one of the hard men in cycling. He spent numerous days wearing the ‘yellow jersey’ and added two individual stage wins at the Tour de France in 1998 and 2004.
Just missing out on claiming the ‘green jersey’ on the Champs Elysées he has finished second in the points competition on four occasions in 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2005.
A former track rider with Commonwealth and Olympic gold medals to his name, his biggest professional win appropriately came in a velodrome, powering away from the peloton to seal the 2007 edition of Paris-Roubaix.
